Director Internal Audit
The Internal Audit Department at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development draws its function and mandate from section 17 of the Public Finance Management Act No.1 of 2018.
The Department provides assurance and consultancy services which aims to ensure prudent financial management of resources at the Ministry, Chalimbana Training Institute, Kabwe Fire Training School as well as all the one hundred and sixteen (116) Local Authorities on governance, risk management and internal controls.
The objective of the Department is designed to add value and improve the operations of the Ministry through evaluation and assessment of governance, risk management and internal controls according to various legislations and Acts.
This involves carrying out assurance and consultancy services on Local Government Equalization Grants, School Grants, Constituency Development Funds (CDF), Local Authority Revenue Collection as well as Capital Projects implemented by both the Ministry through the Department of Housing and Infrastructure Development and in Local Authorities through the 20% Local Government Equalization Funds.
