Nakonde District witnessed a transformative moment as Hon. Gift Sialubalo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, officially handed over 13 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects and 9 Ward Development Fund (WDF) projects completed between 2022 and 2024.
Addressing a gathering that included Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Waitwika, Muchinga Province Minister Hon. Njavwa Simutowe MP, local leaders, and community members, Hon. Sialubalo emphasized the significance of these projects as a testament to transparent governance, community-driven development and the transformative power of Constituency Development Fund CDF.
Key Highlights:
Education: Inauguration of Nakonde’s first-ever public library in Central Ward, completion of classroom blocks at Ilendela and Nakonde Primary Schools, and distribution of over 7,000 desks to ensure conducive learning environments.
Healthcare: Construction of Nteko and Nachipeta Health Posts, building a mortuary at Nakonde Urban Clinic, and installing solar lighting at key health facilities to enhance service delivery.
Infrastructure: Rehabilitating over 106 km of feeder roads, restoring 39 boreholes, and developing market shelters and staff houses to boost local economies and improve living standards.
Hon. Sialubalo highlighted the importance of community involvement in maintaining these infrastructures, urging citizens to guard against vandalism and ensure equitable use.
