Chongwe — In a bid to strengthen how the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is communicated to the public, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development convened a specialized workshop at Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute focused on developing content specifications for CDF messaging across various media platforms.
The workshop, attended by Public Relations Officers from Local Authorities, senior government officials, and communication experts, was officially opened by the Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Mr. Nicholas Phiri.
Speaking during the opening session, Mr. Phiri said the workshop marks a significant milestone in the Ministry’s efforts to ensure that communication around CDF implementation is clear, consistent, and impactful.
“This workshop is not just about general messaging,” Mr. Phiri said. “It’s about building clear, actionable content requirements for each communication channel whether it’s billboards, online media, or television so that citizens can see and understand how the CDF is changing lives in their communities.”
Mr. Phiri described the CDF as a practical and transformative development tool that supports infrastructure, education, health, and economic empowerment projects across Zambia. However, he emphasized that without effective communication, the impact of these efforts may go unnoticed.
He encouraged participants to use the workshop to develop practical and inclusive strategies that highlight real stories of transformation, resonate with community members, and encourage civic engagement.
The initiative aligns with the Ministry’s broader goal of increasing transparency, accountability, and community involvement in the delivery of public services through the CDF.
