Highlights of the 2025 Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony of the Lozi speaking people of Western province, which was held on Saturday, 5th April, 2025 and was officiated by the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.

This year’s Kuomboka ceremony is significant as it marked His Majesty, the King Litunga Lubosi Imwiko the ll, 25 years anniversary on the throne. The Ministry of Local Government and Rural sends its heartfelt congratulations.

History shows that this ancient ceremony celebrates the Litunga’s move from his summer home at Lealui in the flooded Villages of the Barotse flood plain, to his winter home in Limulunga on the higher ground, where he remains until the water subsides in the plains around June or July.
