COUNCIL WORKERS AWARDED A K500.00 SALARY INCREMENT ACROSS THE BOARD

LUSAKA: Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary (Technical Services) Mr. Nicholas Phiri, wishes to inform the Nation that Local Authorities, the Zambia United Local Authorities Workers Union (ZULAWU), and Fire Services Union of Zambia (FIRESUZ), have concluded negotiations for the 2025 improved Salaries/Wages and Conditions of service for Local Authorities employees countrywide.

The negotiations, for the employees in Division II, III and IV, were held from 2nd December, 2024 at Sandy’s Creation in Lusaka. The Permanent Secretary wishes to announce that Local Authorities’ employees have been awarded Salary/Wage increment of K500.00 across the board.

Mr Phiri said the increment is meant to ensure that Local Authorities, among other things, continue to maintain a positive work environment that boosts employee morale, retention and productivity.

He reiterated that the New Dawn Government is committed to improving the welfare of employees as demonstrated by the award of the said K500.00 Salary increment amidst hard times.

“I therefore challenge all employees in Local Authorities to reciprocate this gesture by working hard to improve service delivery to the people.

The people of Zambia are so expectant from us in delivering more meaningful services such as implementation of Constituency Development Fund in communities,” Mr Phiri stated.
