The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hon. Gary Nkombo, MP, has launched the construction of bus stations and markets in Eastern Province. The projects will be undertaken in Chipata, Lundazi, Katete and Sinda Districts through the support from KfW, a Germany Development Bank.
The project is aimed at improving the social-economic wellbeing of the local people by providing the capacity of beneficiary Local Authorities to develop and maintain infrastructure and ensure its sustainable use.
· In Chipata District, the Government will upgrade Saturday and Nabvutika Markets, as well as the construction of a modern Intercity Bus terminus at a total cost of K42.6 million.
