Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary (Administration) Mr Maambo Haamaundu has today, 16th September 2023, commissioned the newly procured earthmoving equipment to be used by the Lusaka Integrated Solid Waste Management Company for hauling of waste at Chunga Landfill (commonly known as Chunga Dump site) in Lusaka. The heavy-duty include; (1) Bulldozer, (1) Excavator, (2) Backhoe loaders, and (2) Front-End Loader.
The Government, through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, also signed a contract with Kailgee Construction Limited to undertake urgent rehabilitation works at Chunga Landfill Site. The works to be undertaken include; the construction of inner access roads, drainages, and boundary wall, the rehabilitation of the weighbridges and buildings.
