President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering the girl child through increased access to education, particularly by supporting more girls to attend secondary boarding schools under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursary programme.
Speaking during the commemoration of International Women’s Day in Lusaka, President Hichilema said the initiative forms part of broader government interventions aimed at empowering girls and women to fully participate in national development and take up leadership roles in society.
This year’s celebration was held under the theme: β€œRights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” which underscores the need for deliberate efforts to advance gender equality, protect women’s rights, and ensure that girls have access to opportunities that allow them to thrive.
