President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed Government’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s cultural heritage, emphasizing that the preservation of culture is not optional but a mandatory responsibility for national leaders.
Speaking during this year’s Ncwala Traditional Ceremony of the Ngoni people in Eastern Province, President Hichilema described culture as one of the most unifying aspects of Zambia’s diverse communities. He noted that the country’s rich cultural diversity must be protected and promoted as a part of national identity.
President Hichilema underscored the critical role of traditional leadership in fostering unity. He stated that when traditional leaders are united and demonstrate mutual understanding, they set a powerful example for their subjects, ultimately strengthening harmony across the nation. Such unity, he said, contributes to making the country a happier and more united country in which citizens can live
