NEWLY ELECTED KASAMA MAYOR URGED TO WORKHARD-MINISTER GIFT SIALUBALO

Newly elected Kasama Mayor, His Worship Mr. Bywell Simposya, has officially been installed, with Government urging the Civic Leader to spearhead a Local Authority that is responsive, accountable, and people centred in delivering services to the residents of the District.

Mr. Simposya was elected into office on 29th January 2026 to lead the Kasama Municipal Council following a by-election necessitated by the death of the previous officeholder, Her Worship Mrs. Theresa Kolala, in December 2025.

Speaking during the installation ceremony held at the Civic Centre in Kasama District today, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Honourable Gift Sialubalo, MP, emphasised the need for the newly elected Mayor to prioritise the needs of the local people by accelerating the provision of municipal services across communities.

“You have since been sworn into office, and today marks your official installation ceremony. This is not merely a ceremonial event; it is a call to responsibility and service. The citizens of Kasama have chosen you to serve them diligently, transparently, and selflessly,” Hon. Sialubalo said.

The Minister reminded the civic leader that leadership is not about status, but about service delivery, urging him to remain focused on improving the welfare of the people.

He further stressed the importance of aligning his mandate with Government’s national development agenda, particularly in advancing community-led initiatives through the effective utilisation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to accelerate development at the grassroots.

“The people of Kasama deserve better services, improved infrastructure, and enhanced opportunities. Through the enhanced CDF, we expect improved road networks, expanded school infrastructure, empowerment programmes for youths and women, and strengthened local economic activities,” the Minister stated.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Simposya pledged to provide exemplary and visionary leadership aimed at transforming the livelihoods of the people of Kasama.

He committed to improving access to clean and safe drinking water, quality healthcare, and education services, particularly for residents in rural parts of the district.

The installation ceremony was attended by senior Government officials, representatives of traditional leadership, council officials, and members of the public from various sectors of society.
