Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Gift S. Sialubalo, MP, has emphasised the importance of unity in diversity as Zambia prepares to host the 2026 Ncβwala Ceremony of the Ngoni people.
Speaking during the Ncβwala Fundraising and Appreciation Dinner, Hon. Sialubalo said the ceremony is a powerful symbol of national unity as it brings together people from different cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds from across Zambia and beyond. He said the event continues to strengthen the spirit of One Zambia, One Nation by promoting tolerance, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among citizens.
He noted that His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema recognises traditional ceremonies such as Ncβwala as key platforms for promoting peace, social cohesion and national identity. The Minister said the President fully supports the event because it celebrates Zambiaβs cultural diversity while fostering national pride, unity and inclusive development across communities.
Hon. Sialubalo added that the Ncβwala Ceremony not only preserves the rich heritage of the Ngoni people but also promotes cultural exchange, dialogue and mutual understanding among communities. He said this contributes to building a united, peaceful and inclusive nation anchored on shared values and heritage.
The Minister further called on stakeholders, cooperating partners and the general public to support the successful hosting of the ceremony and to attend in large numbers in order to celebrate Zambiaβs unity in diversity.
