Minister of Local Government and Rural Development ,Honorable Gary Nkombo Saturday 25th February, 2023 joined the Ngoni speaking people and the rest of the Nation in celebrating the Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony at Mtenguleni Arena in Chipata , Eastern province .
The Ngoni people are an ethnic group living in Zambia , Malawi , Mozambique , Tanzania , East Africa (on the shores of Lake Victoria ) and Central Africa . The Ngoni Nation traces its origins in the South African Province of Kwa Zulu Natal among the Ndwandwe Nation Whose leader was Zwide Kalanga.
In Zambia, Ngwenyama , Inkosi Yamankosi Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV is the patron of the Nc’wala which is celebrated during the last Saturday of February every year .
