On behalf of Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hon. Gift S. Sialubalo delivered a message of unity, cultural pride, and national development during a fundraising dinner held in honour of the Lamba Lima Royal Council of Zambia (LLRCZ).
Graced by Cabinet Ministers, the Provincial Minister, His Royal Highness Chief Machiya, mayors, corporate CEOs, and traditional leaders, the event marked a significant milestone for the Lamba-Lima speaking people of Zambia. The night served as a call to action to preserve tradition and strengthen community development.
In his speech, Hon. Sialubalo reaffirmed the governmentโ€™s deep respect for Zambiaโ€™s cultural institutions and traditions, stating:
โ€œWithout our culture and traditions, we lose a vital part of our identity as a people and as a nation.โ€
The occasion celebrated the longstanding contribution of the Lamba-Lima communities, particularly those in the Copperbelt, who have selflessly shared their rich natural resources with the rest of Zambiaโ€”embodying the spirit of One Zambia, One Nation.
The LLRCZ is currently mobilising resources for two critical initiatives:
-Construction of a permanent Secretariat for the Council
-Procurement of off-road vehicles to improve access to remote chiefdoms
โ€œThese objectives are noble and deserve our full support,โ€ Hon. Sialubalo emphasised. โ€œLet us donate generously and invest in strengthening our traditional institutions, which are custodians of our values, culture, and identity.โ€
The Minister also touched on national unity and resilience, particularly in light of the recent drought that affected food security. Despite the challenges, the government expressed confidence in Zambiaโ€™s ability to rise through prayer, partnership, and people-centred policies.
As Zambia strides toward a more united and prosperous future, events like this serve as a reminder of the essential role traditional institutions play in shaping our society.
